Price Rite workers now pushing for wage increase

BUFFALO, NY – With fast food workers across the state winning the fight for a $15 per hour wage workers at the Price Rite supermarket chain are now also asking for a pay bump.

Both employees and union reps say the wages and benefits for Price Rite employees in Buffalo are far worse than some other areas where Price Rite operates stores.

“If you are paying less than Walmart, something’s wrong,” said Gregory Gorea of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, “so we’re going to try to raise the wages of the people here at Price Rite.”

Price Rite responded to the protests today by citing its numerous benefits and saying the company “recognizes employees’ ongoing contribution to the continued success and growth of our business.”
