Stop & Shop, union agree to new deal

The union representing 35,000 Stop & Shop employees in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island has reached a tentative agreement with the Quincy-based supermarket behemoth after three months of negotiations, both sides announced yesterday. While terms of the proposed pact that came together Saturday were not disclosed, the New England Council of the United Food and Commercial Workers union deemed it “fair and equitable.”
